"Single Mom Champions Holistic Wellness in under served Communities: One Horse At a Time"
Selina Pennie Brown, born and raised in Washington DC, is a single mother and CEO of the STAND Foundation. Through her experience of raising a child alone, she realized her calling was to work with the youth, in particular ,those who were not given the same access to resources as others. The STAND Foundation provides a hands-on learning space to gain knowledge and confidence in equestrian and rodeo skills, and wellness components. These programs provide people of all incomes a unique opportunity to step outside of their reality and focus on cultivating feelings of empathy and open communication with animals and other people. With a holistic approach of physical and mental training, students become more empowered by building a stronger relationship with horses as well as with themselves. Brown’s experiences in life inspired her to become a successful entrepreneur and she hopes to similarly inspire individuals to achieve their goals to unknown bounds with one horse at a time.
